If you suffer from rheumatism

At Malcherhof Baden Medical Center we focus on the treatment of a wide variety of rheumatic disorders. This includes the following diseases:

Inflammatory rheumatic diseases, such as:

  • Rheumatoid arthritis (chronic polyarthritis)
This refers to a frequently relapsing disease of the connective, supporting and muscle
tissue with primary manifestation in the joints and periarticular structures.
  • Psoriatic arthritis
A disease in which inflammatory rheumatic disease of the joints and spine are associated with psoriasis.
  • Ankylosing spondylitis (Morbus Bechterew)
This disease is marked by a chronic inflammation of the spine (axial skeleton) and the
pelvis (sacroiliac joints).   However, it can also affect peripheral joints such as hips
    or knees.
  • Collagenosis
Inflammatory connective tissue diseases associated with multiple organ and joint involvement.

Degenerative rheumatic diseases, such as:

  • Severe osteoarthritis
This disease is characterized by local changes in cartilage, bone and connective tissue.
  • Spondylosis (degenerative spine disease)
is characterized by changes in the vertebral joints and intervertebral discs.
  • Osteoporosis
constitues the loss of bone mass.  By various causes, the  microarchitecture of the
bone is disturbed. This leads to an increased fragility of the bone.

Soft tissue rheumatic diseases
are characterized by muscle, tendon, bursal, and subcutaneous pain.

Fit after orthopedic surgery

Besides rheumatoid patients Malcherhof Baden Medical Center also admits patients for postoperative care following surgery on joints of the upper and lower extremities and the spine.

These include:

  • Endoprosthesis (artificial joint replacement)
  • Synovectomy (open or arthroscopic excision of the synovial membrane)
  • Arthrodesis (artificial ankylosis)
  • Stabilization and relief surgery of the spine
  • Disc surgery

The diagnoses that precede surgery can be widely varied. They include inflammatory and degenerative diseases of the locomotor system, such as rheumatoid arthritis or advanced polyarthritis.  Malcherhof Baden Medical Center also serves as a place for rehabilitation of injuries and bone fractures (e.g. femoral neck fracture), internal structure damage of the joints, such as the knee joint (meniscus damage, tendon and ligament tears, cruciate ligament instability) or calcium deposits in the shoulder girdle. Chronic intractable problems of the entire locomotor system, which cannot be successfully treated on an outpatient basis, are also treated at our facility.
